I’m not doing music for, like– I’m just gonna, like, reset, clear it out, and just, you know, welcome fresh, you know, song ideas and stuff. In the lead-up to rehab, Tommy tells Yahoo! that he began drinking again after Mötley Crüe’s last tour due to a combination of burnout and having nothing else to do, having previously been four years sober before that. As he prepares to celebrate one year of sobriety, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee reflects on the seriousness of his alcohol addiction. Lee, who said he started drinking before high school and dropped acid at 13, said celebrating his sobriety can be challenging.

He said they’d regularly take a handful of drugs — “like Valium” — and then “pound a bottle of Jack” Daniels and then go out for the evening. The 61-year-old drummer joined Bill Maher on his Club Random podcast, where he divulged the power alcohol had over him and his Mötley Crüe bandmates. Lee shared the vodka tidbit after Maher told him what Sammy Davis Jr. once said after becoming sober — the hardest part about quitting drinking is “getting up in the morning and knowing that’s as good as I’m going to feel all day.” The musician said he checked into a rehab facility and has now been sober for one year, but still approaches sobriety as a day-by-day process. “I don’t know if it’s a forever thing, but for now, I’m not drinking vodka today,” he said.

  2. That amounts to eight bottles of liquor a day, Maher told him.
  3. Tommy Lee is now about a year sober, but in a recent interview, the rock star recalled his heavy drinking days, which included guzzling up to two gallons of vodka per day.

  5. She urged him to seek professional help.

Lee said that he knew how lucky he was to be so healthy after all of the drinking he’s done. “I must have a horse shoe stuck in my butt. I’m really lucky. I’m grateful,” he said. “I was doing some pretty serious damage that probably would’ve hurt anybody else pretty badly.” Lee went on to say that his wife, Brittany Furlan, whom he married in February 2019, was part of the reason he decided to sober up. According to Lee, he managed to avoid any serious health problems despite his excessive alcohol use over a long period. That amounts to eight bottles of liquor a day, Maher told him.

But for now, I’m not drinking vodka today. Like, I– you know, for most people, they’d probably have, you know, destroyed a bunch of stuff. What’s important is I just realized, like, whoa, dude.

Lee said he had no lasting health effects from the drinking or the myriad other substances he’s abused over the years. His wife, social media star Brittany Furlan, 34, also feared for his health. She urged him to seek professional help. His wife, Brittany Furlan, who he married in 2019 on Valentine’s Day, was part of the reason he decided to sober up. And her concern obviously helped in my decision to just go, get out of here. I bailed for, like, over a month and just was like, that’s it.

Furlan, who is Lee’s fourth wife, was a viral star on Vine and now has over  2 million Instagram followers. She opened up about her relationship with the rocker on the Netflix documentary “The American Meme.” “She was like, ‘Baby, I don’t know, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen anybody drink that much. Like, you’re kind of scaring me,'” he quoted her saying, noting she asked him whether he would wake up.

“Two gallons a day. I swear to you, dude. I swear to God. Gallons. The big handle. Two.” Lee’s new album ‘Andro’ will be out on October 16, while Mötley Crüe’s reunion tour, alongside Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, has been pushed back to 2021. He’s not sure this will be a decision that will last forever, he told Yahoo.

TOMMY LEE Says He Was Drinking Two Gallons Of Vodka A Day ‘For A Long Time’: ‘Your Liver Is On Crutches At That Point’

Alcohol poisoning can be impacted by a person’s size, weight, health tolerance level and rate of consumption in a designated time period, according to nonprofit medical center Mayo Clinic. The “lethal dose” of alcohol for a 132-pound adult is around one liter in spirits, according to Alcohol.org.nz. Two gallons is equivalent to a little more than 7.5 liters.

This is– you’re drinking enough to, like, you could probably die. “She was, like, ‘Baby, I don’t know, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen anybody drink that much. Like, you’re kind of scaring me.’ She was definitely concerned, and her concern obviously helped in my decision to just go get out of here.” “I didn’t notice it until towards the end of it, when I was like, ‘Oh dude, I’ve got to stop. This is fucking insane.’ Like, I was drinking just out of boredom,” he added. Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee has opened up about the extent of his alcohol addiction before his recent spell in a rehab facility. I started working on it after the Motley tour was done.

Tommy Lee, the drummer for Mötley Crüe, revealed that before he got sober nearly a year ago, he was “drinking two gallons” of vodka on a daily basis. I just became sort of immune to it and realized, whoa, this is a lot. So it was time for me to pump the brakes and, you know, just– just get rid of it for a while.

I can’t– that’s not cool to have you have you worry like that. But yeah, she was definitely concerned. Like, it’s just– and and it wasn’t even fazing me. It’s always just sort of– this particular instance, I had been home.

After all the abuse his body has handled, Lee was floored when his doctors told him he hadn’t been left with any long-term health issues. “…I just realised, ‘Whoa dude, you’re drinking enough to like, you could probably die.’ And it wasn’t even fazing me… I just became sort of immune to it.” Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment, Lee explained his history of being “on and off” substance dependance “for a long time,” including a previous four-year period of sobriety.

“I go through these phases where I just want to live a different life and fuck all the dumb shit,” he explains. Following a recent stint in rehab and an almost year-long period of sobriety, Tommy Lee has opened up about the seriousness of his alcohol addiction at its height, admitting that he was consuming up to two gallons of vodka a day. Lee, who is now married to 37-year-old Brittany Furlan, says he and his bandmates would do heavy drugs along with their heavy drinking.
