Mirtazapine Oral Route Precautions

Do not take more of it, do not take it more often, and do not take it for a longer time than your doctor ordered. If you’re at low risk of addiction to alcohol, it may be OK to have an occasional drink, depending on your particular situation, but talk with your doctor. If you’re concerned about your alcohol use, you may benefit from substance abuse counseling and treatment programs that can help you overcome your misuse of alcohol.

There do not seem to be any lasting harmful effects from taking it for many months or years. Mirtazapine will not change your personality, it will simply help you feel like yourself again. You may notice that you sleep better and get on with people more easily because you’re less anxious.

It might be best to stop drinking alcohol for the first few days of treatment until you see how the medicine affects you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you’re unsure whether it’s safe for you to drive while taking mirtazapine. Taking antidepressants, including mirtazapine, is just one of many ways to treat depression. Mirtazapine is not any better or worse than other antidepressants.

Those improvements (compared to baseline levels) persisted at the one-year follow-up assessment, as noted in Figure 1. These findings suggest long-term efficacy for mirtazapine for decreasing the drinking and depression of depressed alcoholics. Mirtazapine side effects

You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to mirtazapine. Do not give this medicine to anyone younger than 18 years old without the advice of a doctor. Do not use mirtazapine if you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days, such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, tranylcypromine and others. It is not known if mirtazapine is safe and effective for use to treat MDD in children. It is thought to positively affect communication between nerve cells in the central nervous system and/or restore chemical balance in the brain.

This may help prevent a possible worsening of your condition and reduce the possibility of withdrawal symptoms such as headache, nausea, or a general feeling of discomfort or illness. This medicine can temporarily lower the number of white blood cells in your blood, increasing your chance of getting an infection. Check with your doctor right away if you think you are getting an infection or if you have a fever or chills, sore throat, sores in the mouth, lower back or side pain, or painful or difficult urination.

Check with your doctor before taking any of the above while you are taking this medicine. Using alcohol or tobacco with certain medicines may also cause interactions to occur. Other people may have been prescribed mirtazapine but not be aware that mixing it with alcohol can cause a mirtazapine and alcohol interaction. This is why it is so important to discuss all prescribed medication with your doctor so you know the risks. Using mirtazapine with other drugs that make you drowsy can worsen this effect.

Drug Interactions

If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. The amount of medicine that you take depends on the strength of the medicine. Also, the number of doses you take each day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are using the medicine. Using this medicine with any of the following medicines is not recommended. Your doctor may decide not to treat you with this medication or change some of the other medicines you take.

All analyses were conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 15.0 [12].
