From Darkness to Light: Addiction to Recovery with Kundalini Yoga 3HO International
So don’t feel bad if you wouldn’t have raised your hand. But do consider that making it a priority to feel good is something to consider. It could change your life and be a key to dealing with eating disorders and weight.
In our modern culture, addictive behavior is everywhere. We may be addicted to smoking, eating, drinking, or drugs; or we can be addicted subconsciously to acceptance, advancement, rejection, emotional love, etc. All of these lead us to insecure and neurotic behavior patterns. Somehow because of the cholesterol scare, we have gotten the message that oil is bad.
- More deeply ingrained patterns may take longer to correct.
- If you have the guts to do this, I suggest having a good supply of substitutes on hand.
- Refined, fried oils are not easily digested by the body.
- Food is often used an inappropriate substitute for the above and other needs.
Spiritual Names
I look at my food, appreciate what I am eating while I am eating, even try to chew more. The problem today is that most of our foods are severely deficient in vitamin-mineral content. Genetically modified foods (GMOs) are even worse because of their unnatural crystalline structures. As a result the cells cannot absorb what is left of the nutrients from the food.
Lifestyle
The second step is to embrace it, NOT deny it or try to suppress it. The third step is to figure how we can satisfy these needs, without hurting ourselves, but instead by promoting our health and happiness.
Meditation for Healing Addictions
This is why it is recommended to eliminate it completely. If you have the guts to do this, I suggest having a good supply of substitutes on hand. As the body gets accustomed to more complete foods, the sugar craving will subside.
We can be addicted to attention, need for approval or validation, sugar, alcohol, social media, cigarettes, food, drugs, sex, body image, shopping and the list goes on .. If you are ready to break ANY addictive or neurotic behavioural pattern, try this ancient scientific meditation for 40 Days straight. Through the regular (daily for best results) practice of this meditation the Pineal Gland works together with the Pituitary Gland to create mind/body balance & harmony. As well as creating change in the autonomic nervous system. Since refined sugar is addictive, any amount of it generally provokes the craving and reestablishes the addiction.

We were all born with the innate wisdom to succeed and be happy. It is very important not to eliminate oil from your diet. Lack of oil speeds up the aging process, and makes menopause in women more difficult. Food is often used an inappropriate substitute for the above and other needs.
Imagine you come upon a blind man on the street who is begging for food. At his feet, a sumptuous banquet is laid out, but he cannot see it or even smell it. You explain to him that he does not need to beg for food, that he only needs to reach out and partake in the blessings at his feet.
There are MANY things going on in our body that we can connect with if we tune into and are present to our energy. The second chakra, which is located in the lower abdominal area, is where much of our additive and “food” issues reside. Whereas the third chakra can be identified by a pulse at a specific point, the second chakra is a space which generates flowing, rhythmic movement. Breath of Fire is a great navel breath as is the 4 Part Energizing Breath which I covered in our very first lesson.
Lesson 12 – Breaking Addictions
This is the area where our digestion and elimination is regulated. When we create stress by holding in our stomachs and have a negative attitude toward this part of our body, we interfere with our normal biological functioning. How can we be so lost as to not know who and what we are? The great majority of us are born into a world that tells us about limitations and smallness.
