For example, a few of these include Rock to Recovery and faith-based treatment. All of these are common and important components of a successful treatment plan. Some of these components (e.g., diagnosis and medications) may be unaddressed or acknowledged only as a formality in SFBT due to its usual focus on less severe mental health issues. Once hope and perspective shift occurs, a client can decide what daily actions they would like to take in attaining a goal.
A practitioner of solution-focused therapy asks questions in an approach derived way. Mind mapping is an effective intervention also used to increase hope and optimism. A research study done on solution-focused life coaching (Green, Oades, & Grant, 2006) showed that this type of intervention increases goal striving and hope, in addition to overall well-being. The goal of solution-based treatment, as its name might suggest, is for clients to think about what they would like to happen in the future, and focus on solutions they can employ to address their current problems. Solution-based therapy is intended to be brief, allowing clients to resolve their problems in just a few sessions with a therapist. Fortunately, research shows that this therapeutic modality is effective for improving emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal problems. In our experience working in understaffed addiction treatment centers, we have found that a large staff helps people avoid burnout, feel supported, and provide better care to our clients. In addition to medical detox, our SoCal addiction treatment program offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP), residential addiction treatment, intensive outpatient treatment program (IOP), and sober living options. Our programs help participants become aware of triggers, monitor internal reactions, and foster more appropriate behavioral choices.
